Dreams Coming Full Circle. Frank’s Carrousel Dream Goes On . . .
What can I say? How do you talk about a guy you loved and laughed and lived with for over 30 years?
How do you go on, when that love and laugh and life has suddenly gone?
It hasn’t gone . . .
For all of you who
know Frank, you know that he’s still very much here. He may be Off to the Next Ride, as Roland says, and if there’s a carousel in Heaven, someone said, “He’s selling tickets”.
Well, no.
Actually he’s more likely up to his eyebrows in grease, crawling all over the gearbox, figuring out “what does this do?” And
then, he’ll be saying: “You know, I was thinking . . . What if we . . . ?”
And then something neat and cool and fun will happen.
Meanwhile, here at Euclid Beach Park, Frank's beloved Carrousel cause goes forward.
And Frank’s very much in charge!
Quitting now is not an option.
Frank's passion for
our Carrousel did not end with him. And your support is vital to our reaching Frank’s – and so many others’ – dream, of one day riding our beloved Euclid Beach Carrousel once again.
So, thanks to all of you who were able to come to Frank's "Going Home" day, as we sent him Off to the Next Ride. A long enough
procession that we looped Carrousel Circle at the State Park, and filled both sides of the driveway as well, weather that did hold (my "Angel Squad" in action), and a wonderful fun "after party". And thanks for "following orders" and wearing that "Euclid Beach Gear", or Hawaiian shirts (even those
of you who normally wouldn't be caught dead in something as noisy as that); it made our day to see everyone looking like they were ready to ride the Carrousel, on a great summer's day.
Thanks to everyone who simply took the "after party" off my hands, and "took care of it" -- from the Euclid Beach food to
"decorations". Frank and I loved the whole upbeat feel of the place -- just as he wanted it to be! Hot dogs, "soda" pop, Euclid Beach popcorn balls, frozen whip -- and band organ music and Carrousel horses; how could you not be feeling the laughter and joy that was Frank?
And as a friend wrote me:
“I
firmly believe that Frank is laughing with friends over what was going on. There were/are tears because he is no longer physically with us but I also think – we are more determined as a result. If we don’t continue on and don’t continue those dreams while creating new ones – Frank will come down and haunt us and kick our butts.”
Always
remembering Frank's First Commandment: Thou shalt have fun doing it!!
And yes, we all know that Frank will be keeping an eye on us!
Dreams Coming Full Circle.
Thank you all. God Bless.
