In Memorium...

Davids wife Georgene and family members with "Scotty's" horse the day of the surprise presentation party.
"And A BIG THANK YOU for all who accomplished the "David H. Scott Horse"
I was told that "Dean and folks" were going to include Dad's Picture inside of
the horse so that he may ride forever".
Thanks Carol (David's daughter)
It is my sad duty to inform you that on July 30, 1998, our beloved founder
and leader, David Humphrey Scott, passed away at his home in Cleveland.
Scotty was born and raised in Euclid Beach Park, where his father was chief
park engineer for many years. Scotty spent many hours with his dad checking
the operation of the many motors used to run the coasters and other rides at
the "Beach", where they would also check track conditions. But it was not
all work. Dave said many times that he and the other "Beach Brats" had the
greatest playground in the world; because when the park closed, it belonged
to them. They could sneak out of the house on a hot summer night and sleep
in one of the chariots on the carrousel; or on days the park was closed, they
would ride down the barrel of the Flying Turns on roller skates.
As Dave grew older he became a ride operator and spent several seasons
operating the Flying Turns. He graduated from University High School in
Cleveland in 1943, and served in World War II in the Army Infantry.
After the "Beach" closed in 1969, Dave could never forget the happy days at
Euclid Beach, so in 1989, he founded the "Euclid Beach Park Nuts." In Dave's
own words, "Euclid Beach Park had more to do with Cleveland history than the
steel mills."
It was Dave who got the ball rolling that brought out PTC #19 carrousel back
home to Cleveland.
Dave and Georgene were married for 47 years, and they had 7 children, 3 girls
and 4 boys, who gave them 26 grandchildren.
Dave spent the past 10+ years sharing his experiences and memories about the
"Beach" with others. It has now been left to us to keep on, keeping on, for
Dave and all of us.
Anyone who ever met and talked with him for a few minutes knew they had made
a true friend.
Dave, thanks for the memories!

The world has lost a very unique person. I only knew David Scott for about
two years, but in that time I came to know a very sentimental, funny and kind
person. I wish he had lived to ride the carrousel. I learned of his death
this morning while visiting the Humphry company. I hope he caught the brass
ring on his way up.

As all of you fine people know it will be 1 year very soon, of Dads passing
away (July 30, 1998) From his daughter's perspective: "It is very very hard to
think that I have not heard his voice, his laugh or seen his tears for this
year. He always had a special place in his heart for EB, and it was heard in
all the the above.....
His voice always seems a little louder when talking about his favorite
memories of the Park and about being a PARK BRAT
His laughter was infectious when telling stories about being a little boy and
racing aorund the rides, playing tag 'without letting your shoes touch the
ground' or riding the thriller without a car but with a pair of roller
skates or a wagon.
And as anyone can remember, the tears of sorrow and of joy about the park,
the family and the friends that he met along the way in his lifetime, who
also enjoyed the many of the same things that he did but from an outsider's point of
view.
I know that we his family are not the only ones who miss these things about
David,
I know that the Family EBPN does also."

Hi,
My name is Pollyanna Scott, grandaughter of David Scott. I was told to send
some memories of my wonderful grandfather. One that sticks out in my mind
is when I was very little. Grandpa taking you out was a big deal and he took
us to the place where Euclid Beach used to be, and told us memories he had of
the park. He was very respectful of the area we walked in and spoke of the
park as if it were yesterday. It was sad to see all the apartments where my
grandfather had so many memories of his childhood, but the best part of the
whole day, was that he took us to Burger King next door, and we had
a really good time. I miss you, Grandpa, and Love you very much.

My name is Nicole Scott, one of the many grandchildren of
David Humphrey Scott. I was going to write a very sentimental thing about my
Grandpa Scott, but after many times trying to write something I've changed my
mind.
I was talking to one of my Aunts a while ago, and asked her if she had an
idea on how I should write all my feelings down onto paper. She had no
answer for me, except "If tears were
prayers, than Grandpa would be doing just fine!" So I followed her advise
and instead of writing something sad on how much I miss my grandpa, I decided
to write about one particular time with him. In fact, it's probably my most
fondest memory of Grandpa.
You see Grandpa loved to teach. You would ask him one thing and he'd give
you an earful. Well, anyway, one day I was riding in a car with him. I was
really depressed. Now that I think about it I can't remember why I was. All
I do remember was that I was.
I was talking to grandpa about it, and his advise for me was "Well Nicole,
even though life may be hard now, you never know what will happen in six
months down the road from now." I don't know, If you ask me, what he said
was basically just common sense, but it stuck in my mind. It gave me hope.
And to this day when I get down in the dumps, I just think of what he said to
me that day, and I get back onto the right track of mind and reach for my
goals. My Grandpa was/is a wonderful man and Grandpa. I love him dearly.
